Honouring My Parents' Love

Today marks the day, 38 years ago, that my parents got married. Growing up, I really didn't think much of their wedding anniversary beyond it being a day we celebrated with ice cream or dinner. I didn't recognize the magnitude of each passing year.

I'm so grateful for my parents' long marriage, filled with love and laughter. Their relationship taught me invaluable lessons about honesty, respect, and selflessness. They showed me that love is about everyday acts of kindness and support, being there for each other in tough times, and finding joy in simple moments.

Since I got married 3 years ago, these lessons have become even more precious. I strive to embody the same love and dedication they shared. I've taken so much of their advice to heart, despite the fact that we got married in July, which they specifically advised against due to it being "stinkin' hot!". Maybe it was their way of teaching me that love is also about taking risks and making your own choices!

As I reflect on their anniversary, I'm filled with gratitude for the love and guidance they provided. Though my mom is no longer physically with us, the love she shared with my dad continues to inspire me every day.

Here's to my parents, and to enduring legacy of love they have left behind.
